Vegan Double Chocolate Brownies

Sweet friends, I did it. Just when I thought I made a really GOOD peanut butter brownie recipe yesterday, I went and made some MIND BLOWING double chocolate brownies today, and friends, you'd never think that a.) they're vegan & gluten free and b.) they're made with chickpeas!! The idea stemmed from the over abundance of chickpeas due to the fact that I make royal icing for my sugar cookies with aquafaba. I was having a serious fridge situation with cans upon cans of drained chickpeas just sitting in there waiting for their moment of glory LOL. For the past few months I had been just roasting the chickpeas in the oven and seasoning them with a blend of nutritional yeast, onion ...

Casa Cake Mama: Building Our Dream Kitchen with IKEA – Part 1

The time has come my friends to share our kitchen renovation story! It’s been 4 months since we moved into our home in Kelowna and if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know we jumped right into tearing up the existing kitchen the moment we took possession of the house.  The kitchen had a pony wall with a bar type table that was far too short to be functional and count as counter space and just large square footage with nothing in the middle - truly wasted space. If you watched my Q & A session on Instagram, you’ll know that we built our kitchen around managing a household with 3 kids and a slew of other projects, so getting to the point where our cabinets weren’t just hanging around the living room was a huge sense of accomplishment!  In my final post about our journey to assembling our kitchen, I’m sharing how the cabinets were installed, what the finishing pieces are and how they ...

Casa Cake Mama: Building Our Dream Kitchen with IKEA – Part 2

I think it’s pretty safe to say that nearly everyone at one point has assembled a piece of IKEA furniture, however, it’s likely not everyone has sorted and assembled 160 pieces of IKEA furniture in the span of 2 weeks! On part 2 of building our dream kitchen with IKEA, I’m going to share how it arrived, how we organized the parts and how easy it was to assemble the cabinets! When we put our order through we were still living in Langley but had possession of our house in Kelowna. During the week period between possession date and move in date, we had our contractor do all the demolition in the kitchen so that we wouldn’t have to be around for the bulk of it. In classic renovation form ...

Vegan Family Living: How We Became a Vegan Family

Ahh the moment has come: I’m finally sharing our journey of becoming a vegan family with all of you! I’m not sure why, but I feel like before I begin I need to set up a few disclaimers- maybe because I know how touchy this subject can be. I want you to know that this is solely our journey and the information I’m sharing is personal and some parts referencing things I have read. Also just warning you that this is probably worth like 3 blog posts and can be little raw at times- but I really want you to take it all in and process it all at once, so grab a cup of coffee and let’s get to it! How it all began: If you were to ask me 10 years ago- heck even 5 years ago if I would have ever seen ...
